A Character (finally) And More Life Drawing

I think these life drawing classes are one of the best investments I've ever made. I find it hard to tell if I'm improving, but either way they're so much fun...

And I finished off this little guy who I created for a story idea I had once..

Medieval Dude..

These are my life drawing sketches from last Wednesday.
It's quite odd drawing a model clothed, but I let myself relax with this one and some of my sketches came out more 'cartoony' than usual, which was nice :)

Random Topic Drawings

These are some random drawing topics I did a while ago. I sometimes use the random topic generator at http://itscharacterdriven.blogspot.co.nz/  I've done a lot more which I'm hoping to clean up and use for colouring practice.

I just can't stop...

I've been taking life drawing classes each week, and I am absolutely loving them...

I got home last night from a two hour class and sat on the floor of my room and kept drawing! There's just something about drawing a live model that's so inspiring and motivating :)

Beach House

Finally finished this picture for my parents. First real attempt at a building :) Scanner kinda messed with it though.

Double Bounce Man

So I realised today that it's been over a month since I last posted. I think this is mostly because I have started a new job and have been super busy.

So here is a little clip I animated while I was at uni. 
He's really only a stick figure, but I think he's cute :)

I think the moral of it is just to remember that life goes on and things will be ok!

And this is something I drew today, it's supposed to represent myself if I were a Monsters Inc character. I'd definitely be yellow :)

Scarlett!!

Just because I love her haha. Took about three hours. I really wish I had a bit more patience so I could do it properly, then again I like to have more of a sketchy look to it..

Emu!

I haven't been up to a heck of a lot lately other than looking for a job and working on a project, hence the lack of posts since... Feb. I've done a little bit of sketching and a few portraits:
  

The portrait is of my grandfather, I popped it into a frame and gave it to my dad, he really loved it which was awesome. 

I started an animation yesterday and realised how much I've really missed it, so that was nice, I'm so glad I still love it after three years. I feel really lucky to have found something that I enjoy doing so much.  

I'm going to try and finish a scene that I started ages ago so that I can post it, since the only animation I have up here is my showreel. 

And hopefully I'll get some more animal drawings done since I'm also loving that at the moment and have been spending lots of time at the zoo :) 

New Things

New Layout! I finally have a layout for this blog that I quite like, so I'll keep it like this for a while I think.
Also I've just moved house, and hopefully soon will have a new job! Very exciting. 
I've been sketching a lot more since I moved, today I felt like drawing flamingos :)

It's been a long time since I last drew any animals and I really enjoy it, maybe a trip to the zoo soon :D

Gone Fishing..

I finally got the time to give this little guy the attention he deserves and put him into a model sheet...

While sitting in class one sunny day and wishing I was out on some quiet coast with a rod and a thermos fishing I came up with this dude, and he's been pretty useful so far :) 
I've animated him busting some moves, and of course casting his line. Might put those up at some point.

Yeah I thought so too...

So unfortunately I can't post anything to do with what I'm working on at the moment as I've signed a confidentiality agreement... But I'm very excited about it and hopefully I will be allowed to show you the finished product when it is all done.

In the mean time I thought I better put something up.
This is a character I designed while I was at school. I used him for a dialogue scene but  didn't really get to know him very well so I thought I'd re-visit him today and see how I felt. He does need a bit of work but I like him, and love the moustache :) Might see him again in the future.

Digital Painting

So this is my first go at digital painting. I used Gimp and I'm not sure how long it took, but I did it over a few days.

Just a note, I didn't paint the actual sign itself, I just painted this picture of it XD
